About us
Our History
In 1990 a councillor from Nogent sur Oise who had married a Beverley girl, approached Beverley College with the idea of a twinning between
the two towns. After a visit to Nogent, it was decided that each town would set up an Anglo French Society. Thanks to the efforts of Margret
and Tony Knight, there was a lot of support and meetings were held monthly with speakers on French literature, art, culture and wine
tasting etc. There followed many visits by members and school students. Seven years later, official twinning ceremonies took place
in Beveley's Guildhall and the Mairie at Nogent.
Beverley's Society has continued to thrive and our current membership is around 40.
We support the Beverley – Nogent Town Twinning
Association and naturally many people are members of both. (For more
information on twinning, please visit www.beverley-nogent.com)
